Why is RAM so expensive in 2026?

AI data centers are buying a large share of the world's memory, and supply has not caught up. Tom's Hardware and The Verge covered the shortage in October 2026. We don't quote a single market number here; every price on this page links to its own source.

How much RAM do I need for gaming?

Check the game. Each game in the "Games to play with it" section shows the minimum and recommended RAM from its official requirements page, with a link. Pick your RAM size and the list sorts itself into games that meet the recommended amount, games that meet only the minimum, and games below the minimum.

Is DDR4 still worth buying?

If your motherboard takes DDR4, a DDR4 kit is the only kind that fits it, and DDR4 kits are listed here alongside DDR5. DDR4 and DDR5 are not interchangeable, so check which one your board uses before you buy.
